			<description><![CDATA[ Back when I was compiling the histories from the schools in the &quot;old 12-5&quot; (JT, Lee, LP, etc...) I came across a book that mentioned the LHS-MHS
game. And the book was published in the mid 1890&#39;s. I can&#39;t remember if it was at the Marshall or Longview public libraries. Might have even been at
one of the high schools. I honestly can&#39;t remember. Been about ten years ago since I was compiling those things.

			<description><![CDATA[ I was thinking the 2007 game was the 98th.  Sometimes my math isn&#39;t the best!  Years ago I was going through the Harrison County Courthouse Museum in
Marshall and saw an old MHS football program from the early 1920s with Marshall called the Hillbillies.  Perhaps someone from Marshall can enlighten us.

Edit: Another thing, the 2009 game won&#39;t be the 100th game. It&#39;ll just be the 100th year of the rivalry. They&#39;ll have played 99 in 2009.

I read an article that was published in the EARLY 1890&#39;s...... Longview had beaten Marshall for the first time..... and even in 1890, it was labled an
&quot;ancient rivalry&quot;....whatever that means.

			<description><![CDATA[ I frankly am surprised that Permian-Lee was No. 2.  Thought they&#39;d go No. 1.  It will be quite an honor if (as I now expect) LHS-MHS is honored as No. 1
tomorrow.  It is a great rivalry (since 1909!) and now it&#39;s again a district game.  Can&#39;t wait for Oct. 17.  By the way, the 2009 game at Lobo Stadium
will be the 100th GAME of this great series.

<p>I still love the game.....but 7 losses in a row have made it tougher to get as excited about it as I was in HS when it was a 50-50 crap-shoot as to who
would win every year.  4 of the 7 losses have been blowouts.  I&#39;ve felt the fire a few times in some of those games (esp the 38-35 game in 2006, and in
2004 when we jumped out to a 15-0 lead) but the Lobos always took care... ]]></description>
